Miss Hixson's class spent a few minutes learning about applesauce today. The students learned the process, from picking the apples to the end result, a yummy treat! Students then enjoyed an applesauce pouch sent all the way from Motts in Upstate New York, where Miss Hixson's cousin works. These Stallions are always learning!! 🍎😋

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Ms. Heaney’s reading class has been exploring the Native American culture through an online reading platform. They learned about Native American homes in addition to their traditional music and instruments. Students also had books in the Diversity Den for silent reading time. It’s been a great month of honoring Native Americans!

Hello parents! If you are reading this post, run to the closest sharpie in your house and use it to write your child's name in their coat. Most children's coats have a place inside where you can do this, or just write their name on the tag. This will help us make sure that your student has their coat for these cold days that have arrived and will be here through the winter. It will also help to cut down on the amount of lost and found we collect each day. Lunchboxes are a great item to label as well! Thanks for your consideration!

Ms. Lantz’s 3rd graders have been working on identifying fractions. Recently they worked with fractions of a pizza and enjoyed a fun pizza day!

Hey stallion families! The Yowell Elementary Canned Food Drive began today!
Please join us in a canned food drive to benefit the Community Christmas Basket Program.
We will be collecting canned/boxed (non-perishable) food November 28 - December 12. Students bring donations to their homeroom. Please consider contributing to our Culpeper families in need.
There will be a school-wide extra recess reward for donated cans!!! The grade level with the MOST donated cans, will get the MOST extra recess!!

Our stallions have been really busy in the library lately! Students spend time playing and creating with STEM games during book checkout, and take the time to silent and buddy read.. Most recently, our second through 5th grade students wrote letters of encouragement to veterans to be mailed to VA hospitals.

Yowell First Grade English Language Learners (ELL students) are busy learning to speak English via a computer program called Lexia English. Our students are so motivated to learn to speak English and are working very diligently each day. Keep up the great work students!
